Travel | Pisa + Florence | Italy

Travel photography is really fun for me because instead of knowing exactly what I'm going to focus on (with the exception of famous landmarks), I often am not sure what will catch my eye. Sometimes it's the obvious - like the gorgeous landscapes in Cinque Terre. Sometimes it's more subtle. In Florence, I was captivated by the people.

During our first day there, after walking up the hill to San Miniato al Monte (the best view of the Florentine cityscape), we came back down to the Piazza della Signoria to rest. On one side of the piazza is the Loggia dei Lanzi, an arched open area with statues on display. Robert and I sat in there for an hour or so, watching all the people come to see the sculptures. Two boys playing tag, old men laughing together, a little girl excitedly chasing after the pigeons, tourists stopping to take photos, lovers quietly walking arm in arm.

Firenze, you were dreamy.
